press release: Suzanne Miller and Nikki Cooper are two recycling artists that comprise Green Chicks Studio in Monroe. Original works of art are created by using recycled objects like plastic, newspaper, wood and wire. Recycled armatures are held together with lots of tape and then covered with layers of fabric mache made from recycled sheets and quilting scraps. Sculptures are detailed using homemade newspaper clay. An acrylic mixture seals the clay and gives the sculptures fine detail before the acrylic paint and varnish finish the art works. Overall, the art is about 90% recycled.
