Terry Fox Run
Last year, so many of you responded to our inaugural Terry Fox Run and it was truly humbling. We brought together 50+ runners and walkers from our community and raised $5,000 for cancer research. Thank you to everyone who showed up to honor Terry's legacy.
We're thrilled to announce the 2nd Annual Madison Terry Fox Run and we're hoping to grow this event even further!
For those new to this, here's why we run: Terry Fox was a Canadian whose story embodies inspiration and determination. Diagnosed with bone cancer as a teenager, he lost his leg but gained an unshakeable dream. In 1980, he began the Marathon of Hope - running the equivalent of a marathon every single day across Canada on a prosthetic leg to raise money for cancer research. Though he didn't complete the journey before cancer returned, his legacy lives on through the Terry Fox Foundation, which has now raised nearly $1 billion globally for cancer research.
What Terry's story reminds us is that some things transcend borders. Cancer doesn't discriminate by nationality. Neither does compassion. In a time when it's easy to focus on what divides us, this run celebrates what unites us - our shared humanity and our commitment to lifting each other up.
Every year, Terry Fox Runs happen across Canada, the USA and internationally to keep his dream alive. Last year, Madison joined that tradition. This year, we want to make it even bigger and in doing so, strengthen the bonds between our communities.
