press release: The full-length Wisconsin-based progressive horror film, The New World Horror, will hold its encore showing on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the High Noon Saloon in Madison, Wisconsin. The New World Horror sold out its premiere at The Majestic in April.
Straka and Sphynx (5:30pm) Doors open at 5:00 p.m. with a special patio show from Straka and Sphynx at 5:30 p.m. Straka and Sphynx is “trashy punk rock written by a woman and backed by a powerful rock rhythm section of brothers.”
The Two Shorts At 6:30, there will be two shorts before the showing of The New World Horror. Together they will last approximately an hour.
The Backup: The first short, The Backup, is written and directed by Daniel Kinney and was an official Wisconsin Film Festival Selection. In the confines of a private lab, a brilliant physicist puts her life on the line to prove her own groundbreaking theory. What she comes face to face with forces her to question not only the results of her experiment, but the limits of quantum physics.
Slumlord: The second short is Slumlord, written and directed by Joe Price and Carmela Wiese. Drugged out losers Donnie and Earl hatch a plan to realize their dream of life on the beaches of Florida, but run afoul of their malevolent landlord in this “scumbag noir” short starring Chad Ovshak, Adam Schabow and Stacey “Pepper” Weber.
The Encore Showing of The New World Horror: The Encore showing of The New World Horror will start at 7pm. In 2014, the making of The New World Horror caused waves due to its depiction of the Tea Party / “alt-right” movement as bloodthirsty zombies. Charlie Sykes, Vicki Mckenna, and other right wing personalities and organizations attacked the film before principal photography even began.
Written and directed by Adam Schabow (Christmas in April, Rants Without Pants, Blogging Blue) and starring Jennifer Grundy, Dana Pellebon, Steve Golla, Tawnie P. Thompson, Greg Johnson, Carmela Wiese, Joe Price, and Harris Lemberg, The New World Horror tells the story of eight strangers who find life turned upside down when a group of political extremists release a demonic virus from hell.
Come on over to the High Noon for a fun patio show and a three Wisconsin based films!
