The Prairie Enthusiasts Field Trip
Aug. 8 (Saturday morning) Smith-Reiner Drumlin Prairies
Come see this relatively 40–acre TPE preserve. The site has two, good quality, gravel and sand drumlin prairies nestled within grassland cover set in an open prairie landscape. Dwarf (cylindrical) blazingstar and other summer prairie flowers should be in bloom. This site has spectacular displays of flowers. We will also see how the new prairie plantings between the remnants are doing in their 2nd season. Drumlin hills are interesting features formed by the passing of the last glacier. This site is managed by the Empire-Sauk Chapter of TPE.
Time: 10:00 AM to Noon. Trip leader: Rich Henderson (608-845-7065).
