The Story: The Rocky Horror Show is a musical with music, lyrics and a book by Richard O'Brien. A humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the late 1940s through to the early 1970s, the musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and coming to the home of a mad scientist unveiling his new creation, a muscle man named Rocky Horror.
About the director: Michael Stalsberg has been producing and directing shows in Janesville for over 10 years. Memorable directing credits include: Stage One's It's a Wonderful Life, Stop Kiss, Speed-the-Plow, How I Learned to Drive, & Proof. He also directed tick, tick... BOOM! and The Frogs for the Janesville Performing Arts Center. He has provided audio and lighting services for artists and groups including Tony Bennett, Buckcherry, Taylor Swift, The Decemberists, and Common among many others. Mike is the technical director at the Janesville Performing Arts Center, and vice president of the Stage One board.
About the music director: Robert Tomaro is currently in his fifteenth year as Music Director and conductor of the Rock River Philharmonic in Wisconsin. His conducting engagements include concerts and recordings with The London Symphony Orchestra, The Slovak Radio Orchestra, The Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra of Poland, the Rockford Symphony, and the Dubuque Symphony, among many others. He has toured throughout Scandinavia, England, France, and Eastern Europe. An internationally respected jazz and rock guitarist, he has appeared in concert with such jazz icons as Stephane Grapelli, Bill Evans and Charles Mingus. In New York, he has performed in the orchestras of the original Broadway productions of many shows, including Evita, The Lion King, Les Miserables, The Who’s Tommy, Dancin’ and Barnum. Currently he is the musical director for Rock artist Susan Aquila. He holds a Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in Music Composition from New York University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University.
