Tim Mulcahy said, "Landscape photography exhibits often feature iconic geomorphological landmarks noted for their beauty, trademark uniqueness, extraordinary geologic or geographic characteristics, and/or exotic location."
Seeing his vision as different, Tim continued, "'Common Ground' is the inverse landscape photography presentation. By comparison to their 'grand landscape' counterparts, each of the sites captured in these images is relatively unexceptional in character and fairly ubiquitous in human experience. They are 'common ground."
"If the grand landscapes are the great cathedrals of the landscape photographers' theology, the humble 'common grounds' displayed in my exhibit barely qualify as adobe chapels. However, despite their simplicity and generic nature, I contend that they share the power to convey the sublime of nature, doing so on a more frequent, intimate and personal scale.
"This exhibit is an homage to 'common ground' and its power to beautifully transcend simplicity and blinding familiarity," Tim concluded. Tim will host an opening reception on Sunday, March 13, from 2-4 pm, in the Lowell Center Lobby.
