media release: Lucille, Madison’s premier destination for craft cocktails, wood-fired pizza, and live music, is thrilled to announce the thirrd Anniversary Celebration of Jazz @ Lucille on Wednesday, April 23, from 8 PM to 11 PM. This special event will bring together three incredible jazz quartets, showcasing the depth and diversity of Madison’s local jazz scene. This event is free to attend, in keeping with Lucille’s tradition of making live jazz accessible to all.
“Jazz Night at Lucille has created a consistent and exciting evening of live music in Downtown Madison. Under the curation of DJ Phil Money, Wednesday evenings at Lucille present an eclectic and ever-changing lineup of local and regional jazz talent. From classic jazz standards to Afro-Cuban jazz, and from funk to original compositions, Jazz @ Lucille is a safe space for artists and music lovers to meet weekly in a beautiful setting filled with amazing cocktails and great food,” says Nick Moran, bassist and bandleader.
For this milestone event, three standout ensembles will take the stage:
• The John Christensen Quartet (8 PM – 8:50 PM) – Straight-ahead jazz, bebop, and timeless standards.
• The Nick Moran Quartet (9 PM – 9:50 PM) – A fusion of grooves, R&B, and jazz.
• The Tommy Vibes Latin Quartet (10 PM – 11 PM) – High-energy Latin jazz, salsa, and dance rhythms.
Lucille has long been committed to fostering the arts and live performance, creating a space where jazz can thrive at the heart of Madison’s Capitol Square. “Curating Jazz @ Lucille for the past three years has been such an incredible and exhilarating experience. I’m truly blessed to see some of Madison’s best musicians congregate and express themselves in such a beautiful space. The community we have created is second to none,” says Philip Murray (DJ Phil Money), director of music programming for Rule No. One Hospitality.
Lucille’s weekly jazz nights have become a beloved fixture in Madison’s cultural calendar, drawing in music lovers, industry professionals, and those seeking an elevated midweek experience. The third Anniversary Celebration aims to cement its status as a true destination for jazz and live music.
“I am grateful to DJ Phil Money and Lucille for establishing a great weekly live music event downtown. To have a place to perform and hear great live improvised music every Wednesday has been a fantastic thing for Madison and for me personally. Kudos to Lucille and DJ Phil—Que Viva La Música!” shares Tommy Mattioli (aka Tommy Vibes), vibraphonist and bandleader.
Lucille invites the community to come together, raise a glass, and celebrate the power of jazz in an atmosphere filled with rhythm, passion, and creativity.
