Flannel Fest. $25 ($20 adv.).
press release: Now in its 6th year, Flannel Fest has become an annual celebration of local, regional and national Americana music. Bust out your favorite flannel attire and join the fall-inspired party with some of Wisconsin's most talented and decorated Wisco-Americana artists. Trapper Schoepp headlines the event, along with The Mascot Theory, Beth Kille Band, The North Code, and The Listening Party. Schoepp’s latest album, Primetime Illusion, was produced by Wilco’s Patrick Sansone and features the song “On, Wisconsin” - a song Bob Dylan started in 1961 and Schoepp recently finished it, then the two artists published the song together.
Flannel Fest South will be held at the High Noon Saloon in Madison on Friday, November 8, 2019, in partnership with Heat For Heroes. The fest also returns to Appleton for a third straight year with Flannel Fest North being held at Gibson Music Hall in Appleton on Saturday, November 9, 2019, in partnership with Spats and Mile of Music Productions. Tickets for both events are now on sale.
We are once again pleased to partner with Keep Wisconsin Warm/Cool Fund, the non-profit benefactor of Flannel Fest. The Keep Wisconsin Warm/Cool Fund (KWW/CF) is a statewide non-profit charitable effort that steps in and keeps the heat and power on for thousands of elderly, people with disabilities, veterans and working families with young children in crisis. As a result of generous public, private, business and individual support, KWW/CF provides preventative services and the financial assistance necessary to avert energy-related crisis situations. The KWW/CF provides the only safety net that keeps those most in need safely in their homes.
Thank you Flannel Fest for your support. It made such a difference in keeping the heat and power on for so many in need in our community. We are very much looking forward to this year’s event. — Tim Bruer, Director of Keep Wisconsin Warm/Cool Fund

TRAPPER SCHOEPP // trapperschoepp.com
The Milwaukee-based tunesmith had been on a roll, earning acclaim as one of America’s most gifted new singer-songwriters, singled out for his remarkably detailed tales of characters on the fringes of society. His Brendan Benson-produced second album, 2016’s RANGERS & VALENTINES, was hailed among that year’s finest, declared a “mini masterpiece” by Relix after being named Billboard’s “Best of the Week.” But by the time 2016 came to its end, Schoepp had split with his longtime partner, been all but forced out of his longtime home and band clubhouse by a new landlord, and worst of all, painfully re-herniated a disc in his back that had plagued him for years. His current release Primetime Illusion is also garnering considerable praise and buzz, not least because of a particular song he co-wrote with someone you may have heard of — Bob Dylan.
THE MASCOT THEORY // themascottheory.com
The Mascot Theory can be described as a high-energy dose of toe-tapping Americana folk-country rock drenched in tight harmonies spewing lyrics of love, loss, regret, death, and hope. They balance on an alternative folk influence and pull it together with a rootsy bluegrass blended Americana feel to give something that fits alongside their counterparts, but also has enough freshness to it to give it a unique spin and create their own sound as well, with a sonic backbone of 4-part harmony swells. Along with a 2017 WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) win for Best Male Vocalist (Erik Kjelland) and a nomination for Best Americana/folk artist, The Mascot Theory has won 22 MAMA (Madison Area Music Association) awards including back to back 2016 and 2017 Artist of the Year awards. At this show, the band will celebrate the release of the new album Live at Clutch Sound Studios. We've been playing some of these songs for many years now, and over time they have morphed and twisted a bit during the live shows. So we decided to capture this 2019 performance as a small snapshot of this collection of songs and musicians. It's like a time-capsule album that represents our past as well as where we are right now as a band. We are eternally grateful for the continued support we have received as a band!” - Erik of The Mascot Theory
BETH KILLE BAND // bethkille.com
At first glance, you may not know what to make of them....the farm boy, the intellectual, the ex-Marine, all backing up a wild-haired, shoot-from-the-hip spirited woman. But then the show begins, and you know you're about to be wrapped in the arms of a cohesive unit bonded in the kinship of music. The four members of the Beth Kille Band -Michael Mood (bass, backing vocals), Tony Kille (drums), Michael Tully (guitar, backing vocals) and Kille herself (guitar, mandolin, vocals) - have amassed some impressive accolades. In addition to numerous songwriting recognitions, Kille grabbed one of her 19 Madison Area Music Association (MAMA) Awards when she was named "Artist of the Year" in 2010 and Tully snagged the highly-competitive "Guitarist of the Year" Award in 2014. Their style can best be described as Americana Rock but these dynamic performers can play everything from folk to funk to in-your-face rock.
THE NORTH CODE // facebook.com/thenorthcode
The North Code is an award-winning Madison-based band with a sound that has been described as indie-folk, Americana, country, and everything in between. Their upbeat and driving style has been compared to that of The Lumineers and Mumford & Sons; however, more than anything else, The North Code creates music meant to embody the invaluable relationships we have with family and friends as well as the escape from monotony made available to us by the natural environment in the northern Midwest. The North Code consists of Josh Pankratz, Adam Prinsen, Craig Hoffmann, Ben Strohbeen, and Rin Ribble. They recently released their first full-length album, In My Head, to complement their first self-titled EP. The Isthmus has described their sound as "indie-folk music with a twinge of Americana” but they’re at home on any sized stage, whether it’s an acoustic set at a small cafe or playing fully instrumented at a summer festival. No matter which genre you put them in, their original songwriting filled with driving guitar rhythms, compelling instrumentation, and tight harmonies is sure to please any crowd.
THE LISTENING PARTY // listeningpartymusic.com
The Americana trio out of Milwaukee has found a place in the original music scene through delivering a high energy performance and constantly striving to evolve their style. Always keeping each other and the crowd guessing, the group likes to change mood and instrumentation from song to song. Singer-songwriter Weston Mueller, a Northern Wisconsin native, leads the group with "every note full of expression and feeling" (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel).
