media release: Every Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00pm the Brass Ring offers a free, live, hosted trivia that is Madison’s most popular independent trivia show.

The trivia show is unique in that it uses the facilities tvs for unique visual questions and challenges. It also uses the Discord app on your own device so participants don’t have to make trips to the host area (wasting paper) and can simply relax and enjoy the food, drinks, atmosphere and, of course, the trivia show!

Gift Certificates and prizes are awarded at every show! There is a weekly email that explains any changes, new shows, competitions and changes to the reservation system (so you are sure to have a seat!). Normally we reserve half of the Brass Ring so you can be sure your team of two to ten have a spot waiting for you when you arrive. The other half is open to walk-ins, so feel free to come down and give it a try with or without a reservation.

NEW TO THE BRASS RING TRIVIA SHOW?

     Here is an outline of the first thing you will need to do which is to get into the App and Server that the Brass Ring uses to organize and play trivia.  Once you have done these initial procedures, it will be very simple for every future use.

1. Get the Discord App and go to the “general” channel of the Brass Ring Trivia Show and the show you want to sign up for:  https://discord.gg/9cN5aEQ

The link will land you in the General Server for the Brass Ring Trivia Show.  This is where you can always, at any date in the future, sign up and request a reservation for the shows that it tells you are available.  If you don’t have the Discord app it will walk you through the process.

GETTING A RESERVATION and NOT GETTING A RESERVATION

1. Find the show you want to sign up for:

Now that you are in the General Channel of the Brass Ring Trivia Show you should see the Available Shows in the format “join-may-4-show”, tap on that to get the link to the show server.

2. Click on the link in the show channel

In that channel you will be invited to click on the link that will put you in the server they use for that date’s show.

You must type a message to complete the request, this allows the host to “see” you and put you in your private answer channel

SImply tap "click-sign-up-team-here" and write your team name and number of people.  Thanks.

When the host is able to they will put you either into your answer channel because you have a reservation, or in a channel that will be ready to play if you get the first come, first served seating.

3. “YOU HAVE A RESERVATION”

 If you get a invitation AND a reservation you will see a channel with your team name and a confirmation of your reservation and you can simply go to the show and your table will be waiting and you are in your answer channel ready to play.  You need to have one person there by 6:45.  No exceptions.  We turn people away from this show, so please understand that we have to enforce this strictly.

5.  “INVITATION WITHOUT A RESERVATION"

If you did not get a reservation then we are going to assume you are going to come down and take advantage of the “Unreserved” seating at the Brass Ring that is given away on a “First Come, First Serve” basis.  Directions will be in that channel and say:

You are in the show channel but this is NOT A RESERVATION and not a guarantee of seating, the available reservations have been filled at this time, but if one becomes available you will be notified to see if you are interested in attending.

You will be able to use the invitation if you are able to claim some of the first come, first served seating we keep available.  If you do, then when you arrive and get seated at the Brass RIng for the **Date** Trivia Show, just say “**TEAM NAME** are here!” or write something in this channel that lets me know that you have gotten a seat and you will get your own private answer channel that will say your team name.

CURRENT RECOMMENDATIONS: The Brass Ring only reserves about 60% of available space to trivia teams that request it, so the standard recommendation to get the available seating if you receive this message is to get __at least one person__to the Brass Ring an hour before the show.  This is especially true for larger teams of 5 or more.  The show gets busier or slower due to a lot of factors and we will always try to update this recommendation for accuracy.  If you have specific questions just send a message in this channel.
