Franz Schubert - Octet in F Major for Winds and Strings
Experience one of the great nineteenth-century chamber works in one of the best acoustical spaces in Dane County!
The Underground Chamber Collective began as an initiative of Shannon Farley, Juliana Mesa and Jose Garcia-Taborda to play repertoire that included both strings and woodwind instruments. Although the name of the ensemble did not come to be until May of 2019, the idea of this group began with the performance of this same septet in the fall of 2018. The name itself was a mix of words that signify that the ensemble is flexible in its instrumentation (Collective), it is intended to play mostly chamber music and it was born in the basement apartment of our bassoonist, hence the work “Underground”. The Underground Chamber Collective has performed in different venues around Madison, WI, including First Unitarian Society, UW Madison, and Oakwood Village University Woods.
