UW Lathrop Hall-H'Doubler Performance Space 1050 University Ave., Madison, Wisconsin 53706
Chris Walker, associate professor of dance at UW Madison, presents an evening of works that explore “mas” — the contemporary Caribbean art steeped in West Indian Carnival tradition. Walker performs two solo works inspired by mas characters, Seaweed King and Obàtálái (on stilts). Alum Mary Patterson performs the solo “Mountain Climbing.” Punctuating the concert of Walker’s choreography are design works from multimedia artists Laura Anderson Barbata and Briana McCarthy and a performance from guest artist Makeda Thomas.
