vs. Lindenwood.
media release: Wisconsin wrestling begins the 2023-24 season this Sunday, Nov. 5 at the UW Field House against Lindenwood. The dual match will start at 1 p.m. CT and be streamed live on B1G+.
The Badgers will host six home dual matches this season at the UW Field House.
Schedule: https://uwbadgers.com/sports/
The Badgers are currently ranked No. 18 by both Intermat and the National Wrestling Coaches Association (Oct. 31, 2023).
The team returns two NCAA All-Americans – Eric Barnett (125 pounds) and Dean Hamiti (165) – in addition to two-time NCAA qualifier Joseph Zargo (climbing a weight class to 149 pounds). Hamiti is the reigning 2023 Big Ten Champion. The Badgers also welcome back four new transfers to Wisconsin: Isaac Klarkowski (transfer from Rice), Shane Liegel (transfer from Loras), Max Maylor (transfer from Michigan) and Luke Mechler (transfer from Oklahoma State). All four new Badgers are former talented high school wrestlers from across our state and will have a good shot at starting spots in the dual match lineup.
Two-time NCAA qualifier Braxton Amos (197) will be taking an Olympic waiver to train for Paris 2024 and will not be competing for the Badgers this season. He was a non-traveling alternate for Team USA’s Greco-Roman team at the last Olympics. He continues to train with the team here in Madison.
