Walter Burley Griffin Society Annual Meeting

The Walter Burley Griffin Society of America 16th annual meeting will be in Madison on Saturday, June 20 June with a program and house tour.
The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the auditorium of Frank Lloyd Wright’s First Unitarian Meeting House, 900 University Bay Drive, Shorewood Hills. Talks include Wright/Griffin’s Lamp house in Madison by Jack Holzhueter; John Nolen’s 1911 plan of Madison and Griffin’s design of Canberra, Australia, by Prof. James Weirick; J.C. Spencer’s works in Madison by Prof. Emeritus Paul Kruty; and the architecture of Claude & Starck by Gary Tipler.
The house tour, 1- 5 p.m., will include the Bradley house based on Louis Sullivan’s plan, Frank Lloyd Wright’s first Jacobs house Usonia I, the Buell House by Conover and Porter (Wright’s first employer), houses by Claude & Starck, and the grounds of other important houses.
