Wavves, Beach Goons, Death Lens

Wavves
Wavves has been around for a while, and over the years their guitar-heavy speed attack of sometimes surfy rock has ranged from good natured to dark. The sounds of the San Diego-born band are loud, cheeky, poppy and catchy — a good entrance into the 4th of July holiday. Openers Beach Goons and Death Lens both have similar heavy, punked-up deliveries.
media release: Wavves shares their new single “Lucky Stars,” the latest offering from their forthcoming album Spun due June 27th. “Lucky Stars” is the sole co-write song from band members Stephen Pope and Nathan Williams. It’s a song they had worked on for years but had struggled to get right until now. Williams’ vocal performance is partially inspired by Butthole Surfer’s lead singer Gibby Haynes’ signature megaphoned-in vocal style that walks the line between talking and singing.
The new single follows “Spun” and the Travis Barker-produced single “Goner,” which was paired with a Brandon Dermer-directed music video filmed at the band’s Los Angeles County wildfire benefit show at Zeublon, watch that here. Dermer has previously directed Wavves’ 2013 video for “That’s On Me” and has directed videos for Blink-182 among others.
Spun is due June 27th with a headline North American tour set to launch just prior to the release with support from Beach Goons and additional support from Death Lens and Chokecherry on select dates.
