Weird Stars: Giant Starspots, Vampire Stars & Star Quakes
UW Space Place 2300 S. Park St., Suite LL-100, Madison, Wisconsin
Special Guest Presentation at Space Place, Tuesday, July 12th at 7:00 pm
by Emily Leiner, UW-Madison Dept. of Astronomy
One of the great accomplishments of astrophysics is the understanding of how stars form and evolve. Yet today we know of many mysterious stars that defy the predictions of this standard theory. Emily will discuss how we think these "weird stars" came to be, and how new data from the Kepler K2 mission can help us understand their evolution.
