media release: Road warrior, storyteller, and ever-evolving songwriter Wilder Woods — the stage name for NEEDTOBREATHE frontman Bear Rinehart’s solo project — will perform in Madison on April 28th at the Majestic Theatre. Wilder Woods is touring in support of his brand new sophomore album, FEVER / SKY, released March 24th via Dualtone Records. FEVER / SKY — the follow up to Wilder Woods' 2019 acclaimed self-titled release — offers eleven captivating tracks featuring powerful roots-rock/R&B infused anthems alongside potent, reflective moments. The first single is the the fiery, soul stirring album opener “Maestro (Tears Don’t Lie).”

FEVER / SKY finds Rinehart refocusing his attention not upon the horizon ahead, but upon the road itself. Rinehart wrote most of FEVER / SKY while touring lapsed during Covid-19. Sequestered at his home in Nashville, the longtime touring veteran conjured the ambiance of hair-raising live performances combined with personal, introspective lyrics. Recorded with old friends and new collaborators, it's a personal record about enjoying the modern moment, stacked high with soulful R&B textures, heartland hooks, and the willingness to chase the muse into unexplored places. Fittingly, FEVER / SKY often unfolds like the soundtrack to a cross-country road trip.

Rinehart unveiled Wilder Woods in 2019, releasing a self-titled debut record of nuanced neo-soul. His two older sons — Wilder and Woods — inspired the name of the first album and passion project itself, while FEVER / SKY is dedicated to his youngest child, Waters. "I've been in a band for 20 years, and a band is a democracy where you make decisions together," explains Rinehart, who also fronts the Grammy-nominated, chart-topping band NEEDTOBREATHE. "Wilder Woods is a different outlet. I'm giving myself the freedom to do what I want to do and say what I want to say. I've stopped worrying so much about imaging. This isn't the kind of journey where I'm worried about the places I'm headed or the places I've left; it's a journey where I'm just happy to be in the car, driving forward."
