Willy Street Co-op North Grand Opening

press release: The ribbon is ready to be cut as the new Willy Street Co-op–North holds its official Grand Opening on Friday, September 23, 2016. The celebration will get underway at 11 a.m. with a news conference and ribbon cutting ceremony. County, city, co-op, and community leaders will be on hand during the kickoff for what will be a weekend filled with festivities for the Northside Madison location at 2817 N. Sherman Avenue.

“Our staff worked very hard to get this store open as quickly as possible so that we could offer Madison’s Northside a neighborhood grocery store,” Willy Street Co-op General Manager Anya Firszt says. “We very much appreciate all of the support we’ve gotten from our Co-op Owners and from the community. We consider it a work-in-progress, and are asking Willy North shoppers to tell us what products or services they’d still like us to add.”

Willy North opened its doors "softly" on Monday, August 15, 2016, at the former site of Pierce's Northside Market, which closed in May. Following a few months of renovations, the co-op was allowed to provide the neighborhood with groceries, while continuing to work on the finishing touches to the building and adding to the products and programs initially offered.

The official Grand Opening weekend will run from Friday through Sunday, September 23-25, and will include giveaways, contests, tasting events, live music, and more. Everyone is invited to attend.

However, flash sales of 15% off all products in various departments will only be available to co-op owners. Membership at Willy North, East, or West is not a requirement to shop, but it is easy and affordable to become an owner and take advantage of these types of benefits.
