Wisconsin Remembers Forced Famine in Ukraine: The Stories & Histories of Holodomor
Verona Library 500 Silent St., Verona, Wisconsin 53593
media release: On November 14, 1:00-3:00pm, at the Verona Public Library, FOUM will host Madison’s first Holodomor memorial event, “Wisconsin Remembers Forced Famine in Ukraine: The Stories & Histories of Holodomor.” The event will raise awareness of the 1932-33 genocide that the Soviet Union committed in Ukraine, using the voices of survivors. Dr. Daria Mattingly from the University of Chichester, England, will share her research, and author Tammy Borden will share her family’s story. The Soviet Union banned any mention of the Holodomor, and many countries still deny that the millions of deaths were intentional, so it is vital for this information to be spread.
