W%drow, Sam Sardina Band, Griffin Paul & the Lesser Evil Band
Crystal Corner Bar 1302 Williamson St., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
press release: Madison natives W%drow (pronounced ‘woodrow’) will be bringing their quirky brand of high-energy indie pop together with Milwaukee singer/songwriter Sam Sardina’s country pop prowess to blow the doors off of Crystal Corner on Saturday, January 14. Joining them is Madison’s own Griffin Paul & the Lesser Evil Band, an honest blend of Americana funk n’ roll with roots in the '60s and '70s rock scenes. Music runs from 9:30pm-1am, cover is $7 at the door.
W%drow was formed in October of 2016 when songwriter Connor Brennan decided to drop out of med school and do a full-emo Halloween youtube cover of My Chemical Romance with his buddies Nate, Marc, and Other Connor. Now they prefer writing their own clever lyrics and indie pop beats, but they’ll never forget their glamourous guy-liner roots.
Although Sam Sardina just started singing publicly in 2015, her passion for music and songwriting can be traced to 2002 when she belted out Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated” at the age of 8. She then taught herself clarinet, piano, and guitar, and began writing her own country pop anthems.
Formed in the summer of 2016, the Lesser Evil Band hails from Madison and are currently working on their first recording, as well as playing live wherever good music can be found.
Fresh off releasing their first studio demos, Saturday January 14 marks the first time W%drow will be headlining a Madison show, and all bets are OFF. Lead guitarist Marc will probably wear a sweater. Local heartthrob Nate ‘Bahamas’ Bassist will secure his status as an ironclad sex symbol. Other Connor will probably get drunk. This is a show that you do not want to miss.
