press release: A twister warps Dorothy through her computer screen into the land of the wacky, weird and wizardly Oz, who in this day and age resides in cyberspace.
This OZ story written by PTP Founding Director Teddy Studt in 2000 with her neighbor family represents the very last work of her lengthy adaptation career. As Teddy ventured into computer usage in her mid-sixties, she decided to utilize her new-found knowledge to create a cyber land for OZ. Remembering the delight she took in updating this cherished story seems appropriate for a spring project during our celebratory anniversary year. Although many aspects have been updated since 2000, much actually has remained surprisingly stable in our computer domain, including the main characters of Dot and M ouse. PTP plans to continue celebrating our Thirty Year Anniversary journeying through the virtual reality of the children’s stage knowing there is no place like home.
With Grateful Acknowledgment to our major sponsor each season since 2001 PlayTime thanks the American Girl’s Fund for Children. This project is supported in part by a grant from American Girl’s Fund for Children; and this project is supported by Dane Arts with additional funding from the Pleasant T. Rowland Foundation and Endres Manufacturing, and is funded in part by a grant from the Madison Arts Commission, with additional funds from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
If the Shoe Fits will be performed at 17 Dane County venues this fall at a low cost for the entire family. A donation of $3 or less per person is suggested at most venues.
