Fifteen years after the work premiered, You Name It: The Musical is coming back to Encore Studio’s stage, featuring several new songs. Founded in 2000, Encore is one of very few professional theater companies in the U.S. for people with disabilities. In keeping with the company’s mission, the original rock musical focuses on a program director who works with people with disabilities. Her tumultuous work life is further complicated by rocky relationships with her mother and sister, a new love interest, and thoughts of her upcoming 40th birthday.
press release: January 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25 at 8pm. One matinee – Sunday, January 19, at 2pm.
press release: Completely reimagined from its original 2005 premiere, this Encore original rock musical focuses on Siobhan, a program director who supports people with disabilities. Her job is rewarding, frustrating, often chaotic, sometimes dangerous—and rarely appreciated. Siobhan’s sister, Chloe, is one of the few people with a disability who doesn’t like her, and her mother won’t leave either of them alone. Her band is one of the few things that keeps her going ... until a chance meeting with an attractive nurse named Mary who sends Siobhan into a tailspin. All this ... and she’s about to turn 40.
This production features several new songs including: Anxiety Wins, Leave Me Alone, Mom, and At the Crossroad. Others include: Skunk Butt, No One Cares, Managing Threatening Confrontations, Get Going, Cooler Than Me, No Fanfare, World by the Balls, and the title song, You Name It.
