Zeroed Hero
A rock show to pair well with mead and more. Riffy guitars are at the forefront of Zeroed Hero, who come straight out of ‘70s-’90s rock ‘n’ roll. Their 2017 debut album, Love Letters to a Mannequin, has plenty of songs of heartbreak. Also on the bill: Appleton’s The Lately plays approachable indie rock, and 2019 Rockonsin winners Quick and Painless play heavy garage rock with singable choruses.
press release: Zeroed Hero team up with The Lately (Appleton) and Quick & Painless for a high-energy mead-fueled rock & roll ripper at Bos Meadery’s Mead Hall, 849 East Washington Avenue in Madison, on Saturday, August 17, 2019. No cover, donations suggested. Doors at 5pm, downbeat at 7pm sharpish. Come as you are, be nice, respect. Be sure to tip the bartenders & servers.
After earning radio host and music scribe Teri Barr’s “This. Band. Rocks.” endorsement at Between the Waves 2019, Zeroed Hero are back fresh from cooling their heels with a little summer vacation R&R. The Lately roll in to town hot off two appearances at the 2019 Mile of Music Festival, and Quick & Painless are celebrating their second consecutive Rockonsin win at Summerfest earlier this month.
Zeroed Hero pours a classic blend of '70s and '90s style rock that’s more Muhammad Ali than Mike Tyson, featuring tight, riffy guitars and smart, thoughtful lyrics presented with sweet harmonies. Code Zero Radio’s Bob Minter says, “If this is the future of rock, we are all in.” High-energy live shows built on visceral rhythms, immersive grooves, rich melodies, and memorable harmonies showcase the strength of the songs on their debut album Love Letters to a Mannequin. The Lately are a high-energy indie rock outfit built around memorable songwriting and a muscular rhythm section. The unique voice of Samuel Farrell and melodic guitar work of Ryan Eick has earned the band radio play throughout the country, while the focused songwriting and rowdy stage show has earned them the respect of fans and contemporaries. “We’re really just out to prove that rock & roll can be fun and still be clever & sophisticated,” explains Samuel, a sentiment the band thrives on.
Two-time Rockonsin winners Quick and Painless are an alternative rock band from Madison, WI, combining the sounds of ‘70s rock, ‘80s new wave, ‘90s alternative and 2000s pop punk. In the past year Max (drums), Emma (bass, vocals), Ryan (keys, rhythm guitar, vocals), and Everett (lead guitar, vocals) have written, recorded, and released 2018’s "Haha...Walrus" EP and 2019’s full-length debut album "Pragmatic", both available anywhere you stream music, and have played in Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago.
