Jimmy's American Tavern, 5957 McKee Rd. in Fitchburg, opened in mid-May in the space formerly occupied by Kickshaw, Good Times and Fitch's Chophouse.
The menu focuses on small plates, sandwiches and burgers, pizzas and classic steak and chop entrees that have a supper club feel. (Another supper club-like touch is that all entrees include a trip to the salad bar.) Halibut, salmon, stuffed shrimp and scallop fettuccine join ravioli and herb-roasted chicken to round out the menu. Veggie Wellington (with grilled eggplant, zucchini, squash, crimini mushrooms and roasted red peppers in puff pastry) is a variation for non-meat-eaters.
The titular "Jimmy" is Jim Luedtke.
