Longtime east-side/Monona favorite Pizza Oven has expanded to the west side, choosing 6654 Mineral Point Rd. (at Grand Canyon), formerly home to a Hooters. The new phone number is 608-829-3005.
Conversely, the west side's Babe's Bar and Grill looks to expand on the east side, at 4325 Lien Rd. near East Towne. Its target for opening is Nov. 1. Babe's previously operated a downtown location on West Wash at the depot (currently home to Willy Bikes); it closed in 2002. And downtown bar Vintage Spirits will be heading west to the site formerly occupied by J.T. Whitney's, at 674 S. Whitney Way. Vintage is hoping to open on Whitney sometime in December. "Once we got into the space, we realized it needed more work than anticipated," writes owner Brittany Kraemer. There are plans to brew beer on the site, pending federal approval. Until that time, Kraemer says, Vintage will focus on local brews.
Marigold Kitchen, 118 S. Pinckney St., will start serving its popular brunch on Sunday (as well as Saturday), starting Oct. 18. Hours will be 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
