Swim Team
Today's highlighted Madison musical act is Swim Team.
What is Swim Team? Well, there are many bands sporting this name, but Madison's own version describes itself as "the best power pop band in Madison that plays four times a year or less." Led by Ben Reiser, this four-piece plays a lively brand of indie-pop that's not quite yet too old to rock.
More details? Here's their registry bio:
so, ben sings and so does steve and alan definitely does and gail maybe has the best voice in the band.
so, ben writes and so does steve, and alan definitely does, and gail just fucking rocks.

so, yeah.
In 2004, Swim Team released Slow and Steady Loses the Race, which was mixed and engineered at DNA Studios here in Madison. There are four tracks featured on the Swim Team MySpace page: "Kingdom," "Honest," "Best Friend's Car," and "Quick Thaw." Reiser also holds a songwriting credit for "We Are Not Going to Make It," the eighth track on the 1995 self-titled release by Seattle's The Presidents of the United States of America.
One of those four or five times of the year that Swim Team performs live is quickly approaching. The band is playing at the King Club on Friday, Nov. 3. Along with fellow pop-rockers The German Art Students, they are playing with La Crosse's Shot to Hell, an indie-country-punk band that's hosting their CD release party. There's more discussion about the show here on TDPF.
