The Boulder, Colo., resident dusts the competition in the 11th annual Ironman Wisconsin, setting a new record of eight hours, 32 minutes and 52 seconds - about 8 minutes quicker than the old record and 14 minutes faster than this year's second-place finisher. He tells the Wisconsin State Journal that the race "maybe didn't have the strongest field you've ever seen in an Ironman, but I went out and set a course record so that's a really strong performance." Who says sportsmanship is dead?
DOWN: Mike Markuson. The offensive line coach for the Badgers football team is fired after holding the position for only two games. The Badgers are off to a slow start, having lost to Oregon State on Saturday.
