UP: Crane game owners. In his budget, Gov. Scott Walker proposes eliminating all regulation of 2,400 crane games found in arcades, bars and shopping centers. Current regulations require owners to register the "claw" games with the state, inform officials when they're moved and limit the prize values. This ought to get the economy humming again.
DOWN: Scott Walker. The Associated Press reports that the governor's proposed budget does not have unanimous support in the Republican-controlled Legislature. Sen. Luther Olsen (R-Ripon), chairman of the Senate's Education Committee, calls Walker's proposal to freeze education spending "totally inadequate." Republicans are also questioning Walker's proposal to hire 710 more state workers, sell the state's power plants, increase borrowing for road projects, and create a structural deficit. With friends like this, who needs Democrats?
