UP: High-speed rail. U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood vows that Wisconsin critics of high-speed rail - including two Republican candidates for governor - won't stop the project. He compares it to construction of the Interstate highway system and says, "there's no stopping it."
DOWN: UW-Madison. It comes to light that university officials are investigating UW-Madison cancer researcher Minesh Mehta's outside business interests. Mehta resigned in May after a doctor at the University of Pennsylvania called him out for failing to reveal his business ties when criticizing a competitor.
