UP: Madison. Bracing for the loss of the state high school basketball championships, which bring millions of dollars to the local economy every year, the city breathes a sigh of relief after the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association decides to move only the girls tournament to Green Bay for two years. Mayor Paul Soglin is ecstatic, telling the Wisconsin State Journal: "It can't be any better news. It looks to me like the WIAA was really listening to the basketball players, their classmates and their fans."
DOWN: Wisconsin. The U.S. Department of Labor Statistics reports that Wisconsin lost almost 24,000 jobs over the past year, the largest percentage decline of any state in the union; 17,800 of the jobs were in the public sector.
