UP: Military recruiters. Some 3.2% of Wisconsin high school graduates plan to enlist in the Armed Forces, the highest level in a decade, reports former Isthmus intern Nick Penzenstadler in a story for the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism. Recruiters say the sour economy has helped boost enrollment.
DOWN: Catholic diocese workers. The diocese leadership says it will continue to offer commercial health insurance to its employees (including those at St. Mary's Hospital) despite a new state law requiring those policies to offer coverage for birth control. But the workers are warned that contraception is against church teachings and using the benefit could lead to termination.
