UP: Primate Freedom Project. The animal rights group wins its lawsuit against Budget Bikes owner Roger Charly regarding a deal to sell a warehouse between the UW's controversial primate research labs. Charly had accepted the group's offer of $675,000 for the warehouse in 2005, but changed his mind when the UW offered him $1 million. The animal rights group plans to turn the warehouse into a museum detailing the horrors of primate research. Charly is expected to appeal.
DOWN: SolarBees. The city of Madison decides to snuff six 'solar bees' on Monona Bay next year. The bees float on the surface of the bay and circulate water, purportedly to prevent algae and weed growth. But after a two-year trial, the city ' which spent $75,000 to rent the bees ' found no evidence that the machines had improved water clarity.
