The Tea Party activist, who entered the U.S. Senate race just days before the state Republican convention last weekend, wins the convo's endorsement, after beer mogul Dick Leinenkugel drops out of the race, saying "It's not my time. It is Ron Johnson's time." Johnson, a maker of plastic packaging, will face developer Terrence Wall and businessman Dave Westlake in the Sept. 14 primary; the winner will challenge incumbent Russ Feingold on Nov. 2.
DOWN: Scott Southworth. The Juneau County District Attorney is facing a recall effort after warning that public school teachers who obey a state mandate to teach birth control as part of sex ed classes could face criminal charges. Just over 2,000 signatures are needed by July 19 to force a recall election this fall.
