UP: Scott Walker. Disclosure forms filed this month show the governor has raised $2.5 million from 30,000 individuals in the first half of the year. Walker will need the money as he prepares to battle a recall effort next year. Despite being flush with cash, Walker's disapproval rating stands at 59%, according to a Badger Poll.
DOWN: Keg parties. An ordinance that would give police the power to quickly shut down loud or dangerous keg parties was introduced to the Common Council this week. If approved, it would allow police to declare a party a nuisance if any attendee is violating one of 17 laws. Mayor Paul Soglin said, "These kinds of parties are a major source of both illegal underage drinking as well as binge drinking." The measure would include penalties for the host, attendees and landlord.
