The terms of a sexual harassment lawsuit settlement against the Overture Center and its former director, Robert D'Angelo, are released. The city agrees to pay $235,000 to settle the suit brought by former receptionist Monica Everson. Everson gets $90,188; her attorneys get the rest.
Nicole Y.S. Becker, 21, is sentenced to two years' probation and has her driver's license suspended for six months. Becker pleaded no contest to eluding police for an incident last September when she drove through a crowd after a Badger football game and hit two police officers directing traffic. Becker was working as a liquor company representative at the time.
A 16-year-old boy dies of an apparent heroin overdose on Madison's west side. Officials say it's part of an alarming trend, as heroin locally has become cheap and easily available.

The state Department of Workforce Development reports that unemployment rates were up in December in all 12 of Madison's metropolitan areas. The highest rate, 12.2%, was in Menominee County. Madison had the state's lowest rate, at 5.8%.
