Rock County sheriff's deputies arrest a 14-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy in connection to the death of Alexander Aiken, 13, who overdosed on oxycodone in February. The girl was tentatively charged with first-degree reckless homicide and is expected to be charged as an adult.
A jury convicts former daycare operator Lynn Moller, 49, of three counts of child abuse and acquits her of a fourth. Moller was found guilty of abusing two children, then ages 2 and 1, in her care in 2006 and 2008.
It's announced that Simon & Garfunkel will hold a concert at the Kohl Center on May 9. Tickets range from $52 to $187.
At its first meeting, the Dane County Regional Transit Authority taps Dick Wagner as its chairman and pledges to hold a referendum before implementing any transit plan.

A McFarland teenager uses CPR to save her brother after an aluminum roof rake he was using strikes a power line. 911 dispatcher Ashley Sanders is praised for her role in instructing the girl.

Lofton V. Sprouls, 27, is shot and killed outside an apartment building on Madison's south side, becoming the city's first murder victim of the year. Police say they have no suspects but many leads.
The Madison school board approves hiring a $150,000 deputy superintendent as part of a restructuring plan geared toward cutting 8.75 administrative positions over two years. The district is facing a $30 million budget shortfall.
