how 10 percent?

Can you clarify the math used in the final Madweek blurb?

If 456,000 people voted in the Republican primary, wouldn't 10 percent of that number be 45,600 people? I'm confused how a candidate (even a Nazi) who garnered 6,000 votes wound up with more than about 1.3 percent of 456,000 votes cast.

And, honestly (not to minimize the ridiculousness of any self-avowed Nazi securing any amount of votes in the country that, y'know, fought a World War to defeat them) shouldn't the 6,000 votes be considered in light of the TOTAL number of all votes cast (537,000+456,000), 993,000? Because, unless my math is off (and it might be - double-check, please!) those 6,000 votes amount to roughly half of one percent of all the votes cast.

I mean, that's still shameful and disgusting. But there's a big difference between half of one percent and 10 percent, isn't there?
