A small group of Wisconsin prison inmates launches a hunger strike to protest the use of solitary confinement and pushes for improved medical care for inmates with mental illness, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. About 115 Wisconsin prisoners are being held in solitary, according to the state Department of Corrections.

Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump hires Vince Trovato as the Wisconsin state campaign director, the AP reports. Trovato ran unsuccessfully in 2014 for state Assembly in the 97th District, which includes the ultraconservative Waukesha County.
