Campaign staffers at the originally scheduled for Monona Terrace on Sunday has been postponed until Monday night at the same location.
Due to a major winter storm blowing through southern Wisconsin, numerous events throughout the region are being canceled and businesses have closed, while law enforcement authorities are recommending that drivers refrain from traveling in the forecast blizzard conditions. The latest presidential campaign rally in downtown Madison is but the latest casualty of the weather.
Both Democratic candidates, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, have already canceled other events across the state today, reports WisPolitics. Clinton postponed an afternoon rally in DePere until the following morning, while Obama canceled an appearance in Kaukana and will return to the state with a rally in Beloit on Monday morning. Republican candidate Mike Huckabee, meanwhile, is holding his Sunday event at a Milwaukee bowling alley.
Another campaign event in Madison planned for Monday remains unchanged. Michelle Obama will be speaking at the Captiol Theatre in the Overture Center at 3:15 p.m., with the doors at the State Street complex opening at 2 p.m.
The Hillary Clinton "Solutions for America" rally, meanwhile, will be held from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. at Monona Terrace, with the candidate scheduled to speak at 8:15 p.m. Should this event continue as scheduled, and barring no other weather issues or surprises, she will be the final presidential candidate to speak in Madison before the primary polls open on Tuesday morning.
