Dane County has long struggled with the issue of chronic homelessness, but until recently, much of the efforts to combat the problem focused on supporting people while they’re living on the streets. Allison Geyer reported in last week’s Isthmus that local officials are now changing tactics and adopting the Housing First model. The approach emphasizes getting homeless people first into housing, and then providing services and support.
