Jonathan Krenzelok, 29, of Madison is found dead at a friend's house on Breese Terrace after a night of drinking. Police do not suspect foul play.
8.17 Sunday
A caller reports seeing a man floating in the lake near Monona Terrace. Police say Juan Cathey, 36, of Milwaukee, apparently drowned while fishing in Lake Monona. Police return to Lake Monona later to search for a missing swimmer. Erik Jensen, 40, of Cottage Grove was boating with friends when he went swimming. His body has not been found.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty tours the nuclear reactor at UW-Madison. Pawlenty, a possible vice presidential pick for John McCain, criticizes Barack Obama's energy plan for not expanding nuclear power.
A hazardous-incident team helps put out a fire in a molecular biology lab at the UW-Madison. The team had been at University Research Park earlier in the day, to deal with a chemical spill that sent two people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Animal-rights activists ask the state Supreme Court to review a lower-court decision allowing a property owner to back out of a sale. The Primate Freedom Project wants to buy land for a museum on animal abuse next to the UW's animal research labs, but the property owner, Roger Charly, decided to sell the site to the UW for more money. An appeals court recently upheld his right to do so.

Tywalla Johnson, 22, is sentenced to five years' probation after pleading guilty to felony child neglect. In February, Johnson passed out in her car after a night of drinking. Her 4-month-old son, who was strapped in the car seat and covered in blankets, later died from overheating.
Organizers announce Gov. Jim Doyle and Madison's Rep. Tammy Baldwin will both speak at the Democratic National Convention next week in Colorado. Doyle says he'll talk about job creation, while Baldwin is expected to address health care.
The Middleton City Council unanimously votes to recommend that a 130-pound bull mastiff named Igor be euthanized, after it mauled another dog to death at the Middleton Dog Park last week. The Dane County Circuit Court will decide the matter. The dog's owner, Gary Lohrke, has hired an attorney to try to save his pet.
