Margaret Marilyn Anderson, 84, dies at the HospiceCare Center in Madison that she helped build. Anderson, with her husband, Don, was a well-known local philanthropist, who donated $3 million to the hospice center and $1 million to the United Way.

Tammy Blizzard, 45, pleads no contest to the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian last summer. Blizzard was drunk when she struck 74-year-old David Schmidt as he was leaving a Mallards game at Warner Park. Blizzard faces up to 25 years in prison.

A 5.2 earthquake centered in southern Illinois sends tremors all the way to Madison. The quake causes no damage here.
4.19 Saturday
Someone posts video on YouTube of two violent fights between girls at Madison's Toki Middle School. The school says it is disciplining the students involved. The video is later removed from YouTube.
4.20 Sunday
Vandals in the town of Windsor spray paint "KKK" on the side of a Hmong family's truck before setting it ablaze. Police are investigating it as a hate crime.
4.21 Monday
Ed Grunewald, 58, gay activist and owner of Club 5 on Madison's southwest side, dies of pancreatic cancer.
Anthony Stelter, a.k.a. "Tony the Twister," is charged with repeated sexual assault of a 13-year-old child. Stelter performed at children's parties, making balloon animals. Police say Stelter did not meet his alleged victim through performing.
Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz taps Dave Gawenda to be the city's new treasurer. Gawenda is currently the Dane County treasurer, an elected position. His nomination must be approved by the city council.
Madison's Water Utility asks the state's Public Service Commission to let it raise rates by 18%. The utility, which had a 16% rate hike last August, says it needs the extra funds to replace aging pipes and make up for three years of flat water sales.
4.22 Tuesday
Bob D'Angelo, former director of the Overture Center, is sentenced to one year in prison. D'Angelo, 63, was convicted of fraud and tax evasion for running two side businesses from his city office and for not reporting $238,000 in income to the Internal Revenue Service.
The family of Steven Christofferson, 22, of Cudahy, confirms that he was killed while serving in Iraq. Christofferson becomes the 89th Wisconsin soldier to die in the war.
The city of Madison and Dane County announce that they've purchased 259 acres of the Cherokee Marsh. The land is paid for with money from the state's stewardship fund, as well as $1.5 million in city and county dollars. A bike path and pedestrian trail will connect the northern and southern parts of the marsh.
