Word of Mouth: Aug 20

From your friends at Isthmus, Madison's alt-weekly.

What we're playing

Lindsey Bushart, Isthmus advertising rep:

Over the weekend I was introduced to Pass the Pigs, which is a ridiculous game that involves rolling two tiny pigs like dice and hoping for a favorable outcome. Points are apparently scored based on how the pigs land; both pigs on their backs, for example, earns you 20 points. I'm embarrassed to say I am awful at this game and making pig noises, which you have to do each time you score zero points on your turn (*palm to face emoji*).

What we're listening to

Chelsey Dequaine, Isthmus social media director:

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard's album Fishing for Fishies has been my soundtrack to summer. It was released in April, and its upbeat tunes are perfect for long road trips to state parks or for playing at your campsite. My favorite track is "Fishing for Fishies" because of the groovy beats (try not to dance). I also love "Boogieman Sam," which has a sweet harmonica riff. I'm bummed I'm missing the band in Milwaukee at The Riverside Theater this Friday (due to a camping trip), but you should totally go.

What we're watching

Hillary Gunn, marketing coordinator at Majestic Theatre:

Evil Dead The Musical put on by the UW-Madison Department of Theatre and Drama has everything you could ever want –– from fake blood to campy humor to cheesy musical numbers. Even if you don't like musicals I highly recommend checking this out. You have until Aug. 25 to catch it until they do it again this fall!

Who we're following

Drew Hartburg, Isthmus videographer:

First, if you are a foodie and you aren't watching the Bon Appétit YouTube videos, you should be. They're the perfect mix of entertainment and educational. Once you become obsessed with those, follow @meme_appetit on Instagram for their hilarious satirical posts based on the Bon Appétit personalities.

How we're moving

Jenny Peek, Isthmus contributor:

At first I thought it was all hype — why would I ride an e-bike when I'm perfectly capable of peddling a traditional, gear-meets-chain bike? But then my husband, Bobby, got me hooked. Bcycle went electric, and one of their stations (which is only a block from our apartment) became the perfect commute to downtown. Now they just need a few more stations across the city to be the perfect way to get around.

What we're reading

Devin Renner, marketing director at True Coffee Roasters:

One Word Kill by Mark Lawrence. It’s basically Stranger Things meets Looper. If you’ve heard of either one of those things, ever spent time in the 1980s, or just wondered how time travel would work in a multiverse, then this is the book for you.
