Authentically Rocky
My family and I look forward to Isthmus' Food & Drink columns because it is fun to learn about restaurants that we might want to try. The 'Table Talk' column (12/15/06) featured La Rocca's Restaurant, and the question was put to the owners, 'Do people confuse La Rocca's with Rocky Rococo?' Cathy Rocca replied, 'We're the opposite of Rocky's. We're not commercial. We make authentic, home-style food, all from scratch with fresh ingredients.'
I'm not sure what Cathy means when she says her place is the 'opposite' of Rocky's, but my guess is that it's not a compliment. In any case, Rocky's also makes 'authentic' meals, made from fresh ingredients. We make our wonderful pizza dough every day from scratch, and we chop fresh vegetables like onions, green peppers and mushrooms. There's nothing 'inauthentic' about the cooking and baking at Rocky Rococo. How else could we produce the quality products we have served for over 30 years?

Voter lists
While I appreciated Bill Lueders' column 'The High Price of Democracy' (Watchdog, 1/5/07), which highlighted the dramatically increased prices the state Elections Board is charging for voter lists, I believe clarification is in order.
My Capitol office staff never obtained voter lists for campaign purposes. If I want lists for that purpose, my campaign makes the request through the same process as any other campaign.
Capitol offices do ask for voter lists after major elections, especially in the Madison area, where the population is so mobile. It is the best source for address corrections, which reduce mailing costs for taxpayers. In addition, our office budgets do not allow for significant mailing costs.
By the way, I have been unopposed for three terms and did not need voter lists for campaign mailing purposes.

Another birth choice
I was pleased to read 'Special Delivery: A Survey of Madison-Area Birth Options' (Kids & Parents, 1/5/07), as the birth of a child is life changing. Finding the right provider is crucial to a pleasant experience. Unfortunately the article was not a complete listing of birth options, as it left out one of Madison's premier and most personalized providers.
The Wildwood Family Clinic, located on the far east side of Madison, has been providing personalized OB care for more than 25 years. As an independent family practice, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional care to the entire family.
A mother is given peace of mind when the physician who delivers her baby is also the physician who provided her prenatal care and who will also continue to care for her child as it grows.
The amazing childbirth experience goes well beyond the delivery itself, and Wildwood physicians understand this.
