A pair of soon-to-be former Madisonians kicked off their promotional campaign for their road trip around the U.S. with an online video announcing the endeavor. Intended to "help promote biofuels, have fun, and move to Portland from Madison," the pair identifying themselves solely as Sacha and Mary are planning to drive a converted 1982 Mercedes Benz 300DT more than 6000 miles to educate and evangelize folks more than 20 cities about the fuel alternatives. Calling it the Vegetable Oil Road Trip, they're hitting the road on March 29.
The brief promotional video follows below.
The pair plans to drive clockwise through three-quarters of the country, heading east from Madison before skimming the East Coast, Gulf Coast, and the southwest before heading north through California towards Oregon. Like many similar pilgrims these days, they will be documenting their experiences online via reports, photos and perhaps more video at the Vegetable Oil Road Trip blog. More basic details about this journey are available in a set of introductory comments, a list of goals, and a primer on vegetable oil combustion.
