Cheri: In Stephen Frears' adaptation of Colette's 1920 novel, an aging courtesan (Michelle Pfeiffer, sexy but regal) romances a spoiled, unformed man (Rupert Friend) who's 30 years her junior. Despite a rushed coda, this is sensual, cerebral and surprisingly weighty stuff.
