What looks to be the first campaign commercial for the 2008 state elections in Wisconsin was published online Thursday. This fairly standard 30-second spot, complete with aerial shots featuring amber waves of grain and a placid muzak soundtrack, touts Jonathon Kelly, a 24-year-old resident of Lodi and member of the Democratic Party.
Kelley is running for the 47th District in the Wisconsin State Assembly, which covers a swath of northern Dane County, including the villages of Mazomanie, Dane, DeForest, and Marshall, along with adjoining portions of Sauk and Columbia counties. He is challenging Eugene Hahn, an incumbent Republican from Cambria who was first elected to the Assembly in 1990 and does not yet appear to have a campaign website.
This very early campaign spot, the first of a swarm that will inundate the airwaves over the next seventeen months, follows below.
