Faster: A better-than-average vendetta film about an ex-con (Dwayne Johnson) who means to kill each of the snitches who made off with the spoils of a past robbery. Johnson shines, as does Billy Bob Thornton as a junkie cop on his tail.

Love & Other Drugs: A randy pharmaceutical rep (Jake Gyllenhaal) meets an artist (Anne Hathaway) struggling with early-onset Parkinson's disease. The comic relief isn't always well integrated, but the film deftly captures the earthy, no-strings-attached relationship between a womanizer and a woman who's just fine with not thinking long-term.
