Released this week: Flags of Our Fathers, Flicka, Heading South, Hollywoodland, Running With Scissors, The Science of Sleep, Trust the Man.
Hollywoodland: This investigation into the death of TV-Superman George Reeves (Ben Affleck) explores the price of fame. Affleck does a creditable job impersonating the rather flabby Man of Steel, but the movie lacks a true tragic dimension.
The Science of Sleep: A lonely everyman (Gael GarcÃa Bernal) falls for his new neighbor (Charlotte Gainsbourg), and we experience his obsession in delightfully silly dream sequences. The film is a mess, but an endearing, beautiful, hopelessly honest mess supported by a brilliant pair of performances.
