Lions for Lambs: Robert Redford's drama presents three interrelated storylines having to do with our commitment to the War on Terror, starring Tom Cruise as a Republican senator who's come up with "A New Plan" and Meryl Streep as a veteran broadcast journalist who's seen it all before. Although the movie's didactic at times, the dialogue's sharp and the acting's first-rate.

Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story: Simultaneously dumb and enjoyable, this absurdist spin on musical biopics spans 70 years in the life of fictional music legend Dewey Cox (John C. Reilly), who falls prey to every generational music trend in the book. Reilly's oblivious swagger carries much of the film.
