Buddy Mondlock
Cafe Carpe, Fort Atkinson 18 S. Water St., Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin 53538
media release: Award winning singer/songwriter Buddy Mondlock will be performing a concert at Café Carpe in Fort Atkinson on Friday, November 8, at 8:15 pm. He’ll be joined by Mike Lindauer on fretless electric bass.
Buddy Mondlock’s songs have been recorded by Garth Brooks, Joan Baez, Guy Clark, Janis Ian, Peter, Paul and Mary and a host of other artists. Nanci Griffith fans will recognize Mondlock's "Comin' Down In the Rain" from her Grammy Award winning collection, "Other Voices, Other Rooms.” His own recordings include a collaboration with Art Garfunkel and Maia Sharp called “Everything Waits To Be Noticed” on EMI/Manhattan Records.
In recent years Mondlock has been writing songs with military veterans through a program sponsored by an organization called Music Therapy Retreats and he includes several of those songs in his shows. Says Mondlock, “This has been such a powerful experience, and I’m honored to have been trusted with these stories. There’s trauma, to be sure, but there’s triumph too.”
Bassist Mike Lindauer and Mondlock first met in fifth grade, and they’ve been playing together consistently since their mid-twenties. Mondlock says, “Mike adds so much to the sound, not only with his bass but with his soaring harmonies. Plus, he knows where I slow down.”
